 Hello ladies (and gents)!

So, I've got a week left before I go back to school and I'm seriously lacking lolita-loveliness!

I'm a novice seamstress and the first skirts and petti I made are just no good. So, I'm making some more- this time with a bit more experience to help me along!

Project: fluffy petticoat
Start date: Dec. 28th
Deadline: end of week
Materials: nylon tulle netting, cotton for waistband and other misc. things necessary

Project: blue flower pattern basic skirt
Start date: Dec. 29th
Deadline: end of the week
Materials:  cotton fabric, polyester ribbon(maybe)

Project: rose pattern basic skirt w/ trim
Start date: Dec. 29th
Deadline: end of week
Materials:  cotton fabric, eyelet lace w/ ribbon, embroidered lace ruffle

Hopefully I'll have these all finished before New Years!
By the by, if you girls have any tips for me I'm all ears. All the fabric I'm using is 100% cotton, the ribbon is polyester, the eyelet lace is is a nylon/rayon/ maybe cotton blend and the ruffle is cotton. Is there anything I should be aware of when working with these sorts of materials that isn't blatantly obvious? Thanks in advance for any help! : D
I am making a skirt that is made up of  10  30 decree angle panels which ends up being 5/6 of a circle in total.  The total waist curve  should be 60 cms.

So if 5/6 of a circles circumference needs to = 60cm what would the circumference of the full circle be.

How do i figure this out

Project Title: Shirred Summer dress
Short Project Description: I saw I video about how to make a shirred summer dress and I though it was a good idea to  try to make one by myself. I used a old bed-sheet (which was like new) and the result was good. It was my first dress and I know it's not perfect, but I like it. Now, I'm wondering about the coordination. Some ideas? XD
Pattern(s) used: Nothing but this video
Projected Deadline: none
Materials needed: Elastic thread, some fabric.
Challenges or obstacles: I'd never use elastic thread since I made this dress...

Project Start Date: 8/25/2009
Planned Finish Date: 8/25/2009
Actual Finish Date: 8/25/2009
Did you make changes from original plan? Yes, I added a ruffle at the bottom.
How happy are you with the result? Yes. It's my very first dress, and it's simple but I'm happy ^^ I made a tutorial in spanish... here

hi~ I'm still just getting involved with loli style, so I wanted to try making some dresses.
I decided to do some for my dolls first though in order to try it out, before messing up and wasting tons of fabric on something people-sized.

Project Title: Lacey Cakes Skirt
Project Start Date: Dec 22
Planned Finish Date: Dec 27
Actual Finish Date: Dec 27
Did you make changes from original plan?: Decided to do the front as box pleats rather than gathering.
Did you discover something you want to share?: Not really. I hate pleating? XD
How happy are you with the result?: 100%

It's simple but really cute. I love how the pleats came out. I think they were worth the time I spent on them...I think. But it did take so much longer... OTL

Project Title :  New Year's JSK
Short Project Description: I had planned on making this for Christmas, but my family was away on vacation (I didn't go) so I put it off until New Years.  Well, I forgot all about it until I found the fabric sitting in my car today.  It will be a simple black JSK with back shirring, accented by printed music notes along the bottom and possibly scallops on the top and gold lacings over the shirring.
Projected Deadline:  December 31
Pattern(s) Used: My own, most likely reusing the pattern for this commission: http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/SpinnerSpydie/Creations/DSC00852.jpg
http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/SpinnerSpydie/Creations/lolita.jpg
Materials needed: 3 Yards black cotton, 1.5 yards black and gold music fabric

Challenges or obstacles :  Considering I've already made a dress like this, it shouldn't be too hard.  The only issue would most likely be the time.

Project Title :  Getting to Know You Pajamas
Short Project Description:  I just bought myself a new serger for Christmas, so I need to get familiar with it!  So I've decided to make myself some lovely lolita bloomers and a camisole to wear as pajamas!
Projected Deadline:  January 10th
Pattern(s) Used:  My Own
Materials needed:  3 Yards Flannel
Challenges or obstacles :  Getting to know my serger.  And the ruffles!  My sewing machine broke and I've been using my grandmother's so my ruffler foot doesn't fit, so I'm going to have to do them the old way.

Oh, and can I get a tag please?

le 24 décembre 2009

how do you make this :-/ )

I have two dilemmas both involving lace, please help!

Pictures and questions under the cut )
Q: How do you use border print fabric?

info: I have in mind making a jsk with my fabric.
Yet, I'm not sure how i would even attempt the skirt portion let alone the top.

Thanks!

Two completions that i started way back in may...lol

Project Title: white bustle underskirt http://community.livejournal.com/sew_loli/730802.html
Project Start Date: May 13th
Planned Finish Date: May 20th
Actual Finish Date: I don't remember. sometime in may?
Did you make changes from original plan? considering i had no plans and was winging it, no. lol
Did you discover something you want to share? i need to get someone else to cut for me because straight lines and i do not mix well
How happy are you with the result? (in percentage, ie 60%, 100%, 20%) 85% the ruffles go out too far to the sides so the overskirt sits funny. and the half elastic is messy but not bad for a first try

Project Title: green cupcake overskirt http://community.livejournal.com/sew_loli/728178.html
Project Start Date: May 11th
Planned Finish Date: May 20th
Actual Finish Date: I don't remember. sometime in may?
Did you make changes from original plan? considering i had no plans and was winging it, no. lol
Did you discover something you want to share? need to get a new sewing machine. one that has an option for a gathering foot. my machine is so old, its twice my age and i was born in the 80s!
How happy are you with the result? (in percentage, ie 60%, 100%, 20%) 90% my measuring went wonky somewhere so its a little big. i need to go back and fix that.

pictures of the set worn - ignore the sad state of my room. its in the process of being cleaned and packed up and etc )

also, mods, may i get a tag?

Project Title: Aiko's Christmas Dress
Project Start Date: 21 Dec
Planned Finish Date: 23 Dec
Actual Finish Date: 24 Dec (2am XD. Was actually been resting for the whole day, I'm sick =( )
Did you make changes from original plan?: Initially I planned to make a JSK. But I noticed that my lining fabric is missing, so I decide to make it into a 2 piece instead. Completed the skirt part for now, the top will be continued some other time when I get my fabric =3
I also canceled my plan on having pintucks on the top of the jsk and replace it by sewing lace vertically.
Did you discover something you want to share?: Pintucks on wool fabric are hard to do!
How happy are you with the result?: 99%. Made it a little too big, but it doesn't really matters anyway xD

Pictures under the cut! )

PS: Mods, may I have my tag now? =D

I have returned with some pretties!

Project Title: Navy X Gold X Cream Angelic Ornament Skirt (additional Winter Ball entry)
Project Start Date: Dec 22
Planned Finish Date: Dec 22
Actual Finish Date: Dec 22
Did you make changes from original plan? well when I originally got this fabric (which I totally love), I was hoping it was a border on both selvages, but I realized it wasn't, so since I only had 2 yards of the border, I decided to add the cream panel in the middle of the skirt. And then everything sorta came after that.
Did you discover something you want to share? I have discovered that I am more likely to completely wing a side project than plan it out. As I said above, this started simple and then ended up with pintucks, gold embroidered net lace and organza ribbon bows. (and for those who want to know where the fabric is from, its a vintage circa 90's Daisy Kingdom print, and the gold embroidered lace is from Hobby Lobby at $7.99/yd)
How happy are you with the result? (in percentage, ie 60%, 100%, 20%) 100%

You know you wanna peek )

Project name: Lacey Cakes Skirt
Progress: 25% - main fabric cut and sewn together and hem done. Needs lining and waistband.
Problems encountered that halted progress: Finger injury / n/a
Ways considered to solve the problem: n/a
Questions for the community: None just yet! Or, I guess...is this fabric boring now? Since so many people have used it?

Project name: Pink Alice Cards Skirt
Progress: 90% All done but it needs something more. Maybe just a big bow brooch. Or maybe I'll make a big headband hairbow but with the bow detachable with a broochback on it as well for use on the skirt. Haven't decided yet.
Problems encountered that halted progress: Finger injury
Ways considered to solve the problem: Waiting until it stops hurting when I sew! XD Still unusable but at least it only gets in the way now instead of being actually painful.
Questions for the community: What are your suggestions for quick and easy ways to spruce it up? I'm low on time and I still want to make a few more things for gifts for people before I go (hence why they are all so simple) but I don't want it to be so simple that it's not really cute.

Project Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Project name: Aiko's Christmas Dress
Progress:
70%
Problems encountered that halted progress:

1. The initial plan of having pintucks with lace on the upper bodice is canceled T^T. I spent like 2 hours trying to fix the pintucks nicely but it always end up messy because the wool fabric doesn't stay still like normal cottons.
2. I found one of my lace is dirty! Massive yellow stains on it =(
Ways considered to solve problems:
1.Removed the pintucks and replace it with lace lining vertically.
2. Washed and bleached it ._.

Suggestion needed! I'm quite unsure which way should i line my lace on the fabric >_<;

Example pictures under the cut )

Help me to decide! >_<~
I decide to go with A already =D Based on looking through Babyssb's tartan jsk and sk XD
